Pool Information

Pool Maintenance

Q. Why is my pool green?
A.

Usually lack of chlorine or poor circulation. May be caused by the following:
Low salt level
Dirty or faulty salt chlorinator
Not adding enough chlorine to a chlorine pool
Insufficient running time for filtration

Q. What is causing the children's eyes to sting?
A. The most likely cause is an incorrect pH level or very occasionally high chlorine levels. Additionally, even if your pH and chlorine levels are correct they may just be swimming underwater too long with their eyes open.
Q. Why is my pool always cloudy?
A. Usually this is because of poor filtration. The remedy for this is to increase the filtration running time and clean the filter. Occasionally the sand in the filter may need to be changed. The other main cause for cloudy water is a calcium build up from the use of granular chlorine. To handle this you will need to reduce the level of the water in your pool and top it back up with fresh water. You will also need to switch to using liquid chlorine.

Above Ground Pools

Q. Why don't your above ground pools come with a salt water option?
A. Even though pool walls are galvanised, penetrations cut after galvanising leave the metal susceptible to corrosion. Would you leave your new car parked on the beach and not expect it to rust?
Q. Why would I choose your above ground pool over your competitors?
A. We believe we have the strongest pool on the market and our patented braceless support system ensures easy self-installation.
Q. Can I get an area with spa jets in your above ground pools?
A.

Yes. We have the only above ground pool on the market with a fibreglass beach area and easy entry/exit like an inground pool.

Q. Why is my friend always emptying her skimmer basket?
A. Some above ground pools have a small skimmer box with a coffee cup size basket, but we use a large skimmer box with a half bucket size basket, meaning less cleaning and maintenance.

Concrete Pools

Q. Why should I choose Heritage Pools & Spas to build a concrete pool?
A. Heritage Pools & Spas is a family owned company run by Stephen and Karen Adler. Stephen, being the licensed builder, sells the pool and supervises all major aspects of construction. This ensures there are no communication problems as sometimes can be the case with larger companies who have separate sales people and site supervisors.
Q. How many pool would you build each year?
A. We budget on approximately 35-40 pools a year, ensuring we can devote all the time required to build your pool to the highest standard.

Pool Inspections

Q. Why do I need a pool inspection if we're purchasing a new home with a pool?
A. A large number of pools in NSW are built by Owner Builders, some with little knowledge of pool construction. They employ a consultant to organise the building of the pool, but aren't responsible for warranty on the pool, sometimes leading to shoddy workmanship.
